About Us - Our Creative Team

Sonya D. Ferreira - President & CEO
Sonya D. Ferreira first discovered her writing talent when she began winning the owl book report in fourth grade. As her skills developed, she used writing as her outlet to overcome a speech impediment. When she could not express her thoughts verbally, the pen and pad never seemed to fail. By seventh grade she was placed in advanced courses in which she excelled throughout her public education years, ultimately graduating at the top of her high school, undergraduate and graduate classes. In 1993, Sonya transferred to the University of Maryland, College Park to join the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps. While a cadet in college, she obtained a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology and graduated as Summa Cum Laude from Bowie State University in Bowie, Maryland. As a commissioned officer, her training and assignments provided a platform to speak to diverse audiences sharing insights on work dynamics and personal development. As a trained counselor, she also supported sexual abuse victims. Sonya’s experience has exposed her to different cultures, personalities, and backgrounds; and it is from this well that living water springs to share with thirsty souls. Sonya is an alumnist of St Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas where she graduated with honors, receiving a Master of Arts in Counseling with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy.  She is elated to be the wife of David Ferreira and the mother of one son, Elijah.

About T&P

Thoughts and Prayers was established on the premise that the right words can change any atmosphere for the better.  We believe that building relationships, families, and communities is the foundation of what makes any society functional. Yet, when we look around we see just the opposite in our world today: distant relationships, shattered families and a lack of community in our societies. After years of wondering, how do I make an impact?  What’s my purpose on the earth?  I discovered my answer in the power of words which changed my perspective on life.

It’s our wish that the words we share change your life for the better by impacting your atmosphere, attitude and aptitude.  Every word was written with a person like you in mind.  You may be wondering, how could we create something for people we don’t know?  The answer is simple if you understand that humanity is connected through common struggles and life achievements.  It would be difficult to find a person who has not celebrated a birthday, endured a period of mourning, or just needed some encouragement through a challenging season.  These are common experiences that weave a thread across culture, religion, and socioeconomic status.  This commonality jumped out to me when I noticed how people rallied around a grieving person. In every greeting card I saw, someone wrote “you’re in my thoughts and prayers.”  The religion they practiced, their gender, ethnicity or color didn’t matter. Every one who had a similar experience rallied around the point of the thread where they connected.  What mattered at that moment was the connection through a familiar experience. That’s the essence of Thoughts and Prayers, connecting people through “life’s moments.”  We endeavor to create words that reflect continual thoughtfulness along with fervent prayers to make a difference in the lives of others.  Our goal is to “speak life” into every situation through words of encouragement and empowerment.  From the ordinary moments to the extraordinary triumphs, Thoughts and Prayers was established to share in your moments of life.
