Ministry of Encouragement...

Greeting cards are a way of encouraging and comforting others.  It’s the little extra people share to say “I’m thinking about you.”  The term “greeting” card has an uplifting connotation that make people look forward to reading their mail.  Even after the celebration is over and days have gone by, greeting cards are usually displayed for a period of time as a reminder of the encouragement a person received.

Encouragement doesn’t happen by osmosis.  It’s one of the actions people have to perform through their words and deeds.  Find an encourager and you’ll find someone of great value to everyone they meet.  There are many activities we enjoy today because someone encouraged the world’s next singer, athlete, doctor or poet.  In a time where people are bombarded by words accompanied with images to dampen their spirit, it is necessary to have a ministry of encouragement.  Not just to share positive thoughts with others, but to reinforce those thoughts for ourselves. 

Over the course of time, constantly hearing or seeing negative words and images affects our emotional, psychological and spiritual well-being and that’s where Thoughts and Prayers come into play by promoting encouragement even during trials.  Although there’s no title or prestige associated with such a ministry, it is a vital part of our human composition.  The person who can encourage, shapes the potential of greatness and changes the world!
